He is Risen. We all need a new horizon—a sign of hope that these days will end. As one little girl asked her mom, “Mom, is today not a coronavirus day?” She wanted to go to the playground and her younger brother wanted to go to the car wash. Certainly, we all want to call a “not coronavirus day” and get back to the normal we once knew. Yet, here are the questions we all must ask, “Will it ever be the same?”  “Am I the same?”  “Do I have a new horizon on life?”

Undoubtedly, we all have been required to do and be more throughout this strange season. We have been separated from Church, family, and friends. There may be people we know who haven’t been able to console a loved one as they die or haven’t been able to comfort those in mourning. For each of us, the list continues.

Therefore, let me offer a thought which may give you hope to see the new horizon. It is to deeply reflect upon the words of Pope Francis emphasizing the heartbeat of our Risen Lord.

"The heartbeat of the Risen Lord is granted us as a gift, a present, a new horizon." – Pope Francis

Yes, He is alive and His heart beats today just as it did over 2,000 years ago. Yes, the sting of death will always remain, but He has already conquered sin and death. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life” – John3:16. Please remember that God loves you with every beat of His heart.
