In recent years, there has been an increase in journals that focus on being intentional about gratitude. The findings of positive psychology support that having a positive and grateful mindset leads to happiness. We have a section for expressing gratitude in the Life of Christ Journal.

This truth is certainly a reason to rejoice, as living with a positive, grateful heart is a blessing. If we broaden our outlook, just imagine how our happiness would increase if we started praising God for the countless blessings in our lives: the magnificence of creation, a newborn baby, the air we breathe, the love we experience through others, the Eucharist, and the list goes on.

Living with these blessings ever before us can only open our hearts to God’s love and grace. Isn’t this what Zaccheus experienced when he opened the home of his heart to Jesus?

During these days of Lent, I encourage you to count your blessings, and see how you have been transformed by the end of this season of grace.
