Affability

Definition:
Being easy to approach and talk to; being friendly
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, help me to be affable today. May my smile, greetings, and
conversation help all those around me feel welcome and loved with the same
love You have for them. Amen.

SAINT

Bl. Pier Giorgio
As a young man in Italy, Pier Giorgio loved mountain climbing and hiking in the outdoors. He was cheerful
and friendly, ready to listen to all he met. He never complained about his personal struggles or told people
how much he helped the poor. When he was only twenty-four, he died of polio. No one realized how many
friends he had, especially among the poor, until large crowds came to his funeral

PRACTICING AFFABILITY:

• I greet others as a gesture of friendship and respect.
• I am warm and friendly with others.
• I give people my full attention.
• I am inviting and try to create a space where others feel welcome and at ease

SCRIPTURE:

Sirach 6:5-6
Pleasant speech multiplies friends, and gracious lips, friendly greetings. Let those who are friendly to you be many, but one in a thousand your
confidant.

Matthew 5:46-47
For if you love those who love you, what recompense will you have? Do not the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your brothers only,
what is unusual about that? Do not the pagans do the same? So be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect.

The Gift of Piety perfects the virtue of Justice and its related virtues.
